BVLGARI INAUGURATES PARTNERSHIP WITH ELTON JOHN AIDS FOUNDATION AT THE WOODSIDE GALLERY DINNER AT ELTON JOHN’S HOME
AUCTION OF EXQUISITE DIAMOND & WHITE GOLD DIVA’S DREAM HIGH JEWELLERY NECKLACE
CONTRIBUTED £225.000 TO THE CAUSE WITH OVERALL AMOUNT OF FUNDS RAISED DURING THE EVENING OF £3.3M
BVLGARI, the iconic Italian jeweller, commemorated its new partnership with the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s (EJAF) at a private black-tie dinner, hosted by Sir Elton John and David Furnish in their home art gallery. As their Windsor residence is known to house one of the UK’s finest private contemporary art collections, the exclusive 100-person guest list enjoyed the Woodside Gallery’s creations as well as the home’s beautiful surrounding grounds. Prior to the dinner, BVLGARI CEO Jean-Christophe Babin ceremoniously signed the partnership agreement with EJAF, as BVLGARI will support the foundation’s philanthropic efforts and events over the next three years.
As the exclusive list of 100 VIPs dined, they were treated to a private performance by Andrea Bocelli and Sir Elton John himself, followed by a suspenseful live auction of an iconic BVLGARI Diva’s Dream high jewellery necklace. International model and digital influencer, Xenia Tchoumi presented the exquisite one-of-a-kind creation on stage, then BVLGARI auctioned off the 18-karat white gold and diamond necklace to the highest bidder. The resplendent Diva’s Dream piece features one round brilliant-cut diamond (0,51-ct), 20 round brilliant-cut diamonds and pavé diamonds (17,23-ct), raising £225.000 for the EJAF charity. In support of the cause, US Secretary of State John Kerry also contributed via a video message, underlining his commitment and greetings. The funds raised during the event will go to benefit the work of the EJAF in direct patient care services, as well as AIDS prevention and education.
“This is an event I really love,” raved Elton. “It’s a chance for us to welcome guests into our home to share an intimate evening where we really get to talk to everyone. To be able to thank people for their extraordinary generosity is a special treat. Not only do we do great work because of this dinner, but the fun of performing and the pleasure of hearing the fabulous performers in such a private setting is incredible. I just wish I could control English weather!”
Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari, attests, “This magical event in Sir John’s home was unforgettable. The venue was intimate, the invitees are passionate, and the cause is so important. For Bulgari, bettering the world and doing our part is built into our company culture. It is an honour to be partnered with EJAF, a very effective charity, and we look forward to being part of the solution to fighting AIDS.”
Amongst the guests and supporters were an array of celebrities, socialites and philanthropists, often wearing beautiful BVLGARI pieces, such as Xenia Tchoumi, Matthew Bell, Daniela Braga, Cecilia Colussi Rossi, David Walliams, Becca Cason Thrash, Andrea Bocelli, Romero Britto, Kevin Spacey and Elizabeth Hurley.
