Designation: Minister of State, UAE/Managing Director, Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid Committee
Reem Al Hashimi is an Emirati Minister of State and managing director for the Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid Committee. She became Minister of State in the Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates in February 2008. In addition to her ministerial duties, Reem also manages the International Affairs Unit of The Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Reem is chair of Dubai Cares, a children’s education charity established by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2007.
As Chairperson of Dubai Cares,Reem is leading the organization’s efforts to improve children’s access to quality primary education globally. She is also taking the lead in helping shape the global agenda for effective and impactful interventions to achieve, by 2015, the United Nations Millennium Development Goals 2 and 3 –to guarantee universal primary education and to promote gender equality respectively.
Reem has extensive international experience, beginning her career as commercial attaché. She was closely involved in a wide variety of issues related to the UAE-US bilateral relationship, such as security, trade, as well as economic and social issues.
