Nujoom Al Ghanem epitomizes the modern Emirati woman. Married to Khaled – who is the founder of the Emirates Writers Association, Nujoom is a true example of the contemporary Emirati woman – with a career that calls for hours of handling the camera, scouting for locations and scripts, as well as, balancing moods and emotions of various crew members. She is a loving mother of three beautiful daughters and runs a lovely home. She manages a hectic work schedule that includes her struggle for funding for films, as well as,travelling often around the world and attending film festivals. She recently completed a course in body art. Fired with passion for her work and enthusiasm, Nujoom is truly a role model for the women of her community and outside.She is a woman who inspires. Nujoom’s film also won Best Feature Documentary in the Gulf – Emirates Film Competition from Abu Dhabi International Film Festival- 2008 on her documentary film, Almureed.
She has also been awarded the most Promising UAE Film Maker in the 5th Dubai International Film Festival -2008 and has won an Appreciation Certificate from Gulf Film Festival in Dubai 2008 on Almureed and has been the L’Officiel Woman of the Year Awards 2010 in Literature, received Nantes Mayer’s Medal-2001, The Three Continents’ Film Festival, Nantes, France on her film Between Two Banks among many other accolades.
