Amal Ramzi Alamuddin-Clooney is a London-based British-Lebanese lawyer, activist and author who was recently covered extensively by the media when she tied the knot with Hollywood actor George Clooney in September 2014 in Venice, Italy.
Her clientele features some of the most important personalities including Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko.
Amal was born in Beirut, Lebanon where she received an Exhibition scholarship and the Shirgley Award, and in 2000, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence (Oxford’s equivalent to the LLB). She then continued her education at the NYU School of Law. She won the Jack K. Katz Memorial award for her accomplishment in the field of law and is currently a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, specialising in international law, criminal law, human rights, and extradition.
