When Zeina Abdalla was planning her wedding in 2010, she and her husband wanted to set up a photobooth at their reception to give their guests a special keepsake from the occasion that meant so much to them. They searched high and low but couldn’t find one anywhere and this hole in the market led to the creation of Fishfayce, a photobooth concept that can be used at weddings, parties, events and much more. Sharon Carvalho spent the day with her to find out how she juggles being a mum, a wife and an entrepreneur
“I head to Urban Yoga on the weekends and Physique 57 during the week to exercise before I head to work,” says Zeina who dons tights from High Top and a tank top from Ebb to Street, both found at Lululemon. “They have the best workout gear and I’m so glad they opened a store at Mall of the Emirates.” With a life that is very structured and busy, Zeina knows that if she doesn’t squeeze a workout in at this hour, she won’t have time at all.
VIEWS TO WORK FOR
“My office is in Downtown Dubai and the view of the Burj Khalifa is just beautiful. Working in that location is a definite bonus,” says Zeina. Using the morning time to catch up with her team, respond to emails and complete tasks, Zeina knows that she only has a few hours to herself so he has to make the most of it. Pairing loose pants from Sunday Best and a crop top from Zena Presley, Zeina loves what she does and feels a sense of relief when she gets work done efficiently.
“Attending events is a big part of what I do so I’m always happy when they happen during the day,” says Zeina as this is the last stop she makes before heading home. Falling in love with the details and mix of materials in a funky top and skirt by Kage, she heads out to places where her photobooths are being used to create anything from flip books, gifs, videos, animations or photographs. After the event, she heads home to spend some quality time with her son. “I only have a few hours before he goes to sleep so I try to put all technology aside and have one on one time with him. I always have to be home to give him a bath, read him a book and put him to bed.”
DESTRESS AND UNWIND
In a long sleeve, black top from BCBG and colourful skirt from OTT, Zeina heads out for dinner with her husband and friends, after putting her son to bed. “This is my time to unwind and not think about work or stress out about anything.”
